A Welcome Distraction
Ceramics, for me, is an activity that I can lose myself in for hours. The tactile process of touching, kneading, and throwing clay alleviates my mind of racing thoughts as I produce these functional objects.
Each individual piece is finished with a design that was inspired by drawings I used to make to ease anxiety in times of stress.
I invite the audience to physically explore the nuances of each object and create new forms of their own. Get lost in the designs and use individual vessels as components to build a unique whole.
As I sat home during the beginning months of the Coronavirus pandemic, I found myself wanting to create ceramic pieces. I was lacking a wheel, but I still wanted to hone my skills at pinching clay. These are vessels I created using my hands and water as the only tools. I wanted my touch to be visible and apparent, as human connection is more important than ever right now.
